Poor Luna..

She's been brooding and feeling all uncomfortable the whole time, and Dominic... Dominic is having the time of his life riding sting rays, completely oblivious to Luna's feelings.

... Yeah, that's pretty much it.  It's 2 freakin' AM and I'm sleepy (so instead of sleeping like a normal person I'm on the computer blogging).  This is al you're getting.

ParaPara Dancing Instructional Panel

This year Para Dance Project will be hosting its panel on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30

If you have never tried parapara dancing before, now's your chance! No prior dancing experience of any kind is needed!

ParaPara is a modern club dancing style done by men and women in Japan that has been popular for several decades. It features arm and hand movements and simple sidestepping.

The unique part of this dance style is that every one of the thousands of songs played in ParaPara clubs has it's own unique routine!

It may look complicated, but we will show you that dancing parapara is a lot easier than you think, and our step by step approach allows you to get a great feel for the dance.

We are teaching official routines to some of the newest trance, eurobeat and hyper techno songs straight from the Japanese clubs.

I hope I can see you there

So amusing...

Yesterday's post was quite amusing, I will admit, but now it's back to the comic and the flash of character development we've been granted )

If anyone is interested please email me at yamiko.michi at gmail dot com and please tell us about yourself! We're looking to room with non-creepy people so talk about yourself so we know who you are ^^; Because if our personality's clash I want to know before hand even though we wont be in the room alot. If you email cryptic half sentences to us you won't get the room.

normal room rules, have fun be nice and considerate, break/stain/ruin it and you pay for it. No party No smokers No bringing people back to the room.
Currently we have 2 girls confirmed in the room already.
Girls only OR couples are ok (but no doing it in the room cause um ew) and mature people please.
Pay via paypal in advance or in person on Friday.
Cost is 75.00 a person for the weekend (it's less then half since it's only floor/airbed space)

max people in the room will be 4 so it's not an over crowded den and we'll all have bathroom/shower time :)

Tremont Plaza! Need 3 more!

(cross-posted at cosplay.com)

My Otakon group has changed and fewer people are going than I originally thought. D:

So! I’ve got a studio suite at the Tremont Plaza and need 3 more people to get the costs down to a reasonable price. There’s 5 of us confirmed already (3 girls, 2 guys), so there’d be 8 people total.

I’m generally looking for people 18+, considerate, drama-free, etc. Don’t wreck the room, keep your stuff organized, use common sense, for the love of god please shower, etc.

It’s a studio suite with a queen-sized bed and a queen pull out sleeper. Has a kitchenette too! Mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc.

If I get all 3 people it’s $107 a person for the weekend, Thursday-Sunday. Check in is 4ish Thursday, checkout is 12 Sunday. I’ll collect payment (cash please!) when we’re there on Thursday.

The 5 of us are all early 20's and will be cosplaying. We’re not creepy, we don’t have crazy parties (but we may get a little loud!), we don’t trash the room, we’re fun people. :D

If you’re interested either contact me here ooooooor

Got everyone I needed! :D

I love Dominic Deegan.

This is a Deegan Fan community, right? That's actually what it's called. Deegan_fan. Then why is it that as of late, all anyone seems to be able to talk about is how much the comic sucks or Mookie sucks or how Mookie can't write, or whatever?

I LIKE the current arc, and I don't care if I'm the only one, even if you don't like it, you should at least be able to offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, other than saying crap like "Mookie can't write" or whatever.

Yes, Mookie is geeking out over his current arc. He's worldbuilding. For the first time he's actually taking the time to sit down and explore what's outside the borders of Callan, and he's taking us with him. Now, granted, he probably should have thought it out a bit more in advance, but cut the man a little slack, he's not perfect, he's a human being, he makes mistakes, and he's a right-brain person, not usually known for their ability to think ahead.

So. If you're going to talk shit about Mookie or Dominic Deegan in a Deegan fan comminuty, why are you here?

*gets down off soapbox*

A question.

I wasn't really paying attention to the news posts, when this arc of the comic started up. So I'm hoping someone in the community can answer me.

How long is this vacation going to last. It's bordering on mind-numbing. I understand the idea of trying something different, I even appreciated the "Dear diary" feel it had the first few times. But this comic especially just left me completely worn out from the style. I look back to how the comic started, how it changed, where it took on different approaches, and truly, the last time it was good, was during the Jayden/Milov/Siggy arc. Why? Because the art/layout was toyed with, an interesting story was being presented, and character development went through pannels and pannels of conversation to further develop them.

So, again, I understand the different approach. But I'm just really hoping this is going to end soon. Or at least, that the whole "I'm telling you this is epic, you should just trust me" feel wears off. I haven't been this lethargic to a story since the Great Gatsby.

Hawk: Sketchbook #1

I have wanted to do this for some time. I would start on it, but never finish it. It would sit on my computer, waiting to be open again. When I do open it, I find myself starting over again from scratch. So finally, I said no more, this has to be done now. I handed the idea to my bosses at work and it got done. Today I received the very first copy of Hawk: Sketchbook #1. Here is the first look of the book.

Huge thanks to Arijit and Cita for helping me put the book together. The book will be available at ConnecticCon and Otakon under HawkStudios.

Tom Smith Benefit and a Free (please donate for even more MP3s!) MP3 cover of Rich Fantasy Lives

By now, many of you probably know that  Tom Smith, author of the Transylvania Polygnostic University Fight Song, has sustained a nasty injury. I've posted about this on the Girl Genius comic page, but I want to post it here, also, in case it gets missed in one or the other place.

There's a benefit page with more information over here at the Partially Clips site so I'll keep it short and say that he can't work, and can't even stay in his home while he recovers. Plus, like many artists, he has no insurance. It's pretty rotten. To help a bit, members of the filk and dementia music communities have put together a great big collection of covers of Tom's songs. If you donate, you get access to the whole shebang in MP3 form, so it's quite the shiny deal.

Best of all, you can download one of the songs for free here and now! This is a cover of "Rich Fantasy Lives" by Vixy and Tony, free only to you, our readers. We hope you'll want to donate some money to get the rest of the collection, and to help Tom get through this. He's a good guy. Please help him out.

|| DOWNLOAD THE MP3 || (It's around 3.64MB)

(Also, as I've said before elsewhere, Rich Fantasy Lives is a song that makes me all teary. I really love it. So give it a listen!)

San Diego Comicon is Almost Here!

I'm leaving for San Diego in the morning. Please, everyone, forgive me for the unanswered comments and e-mails, things have been... interesting. I hope to get a few messages answered before I leave, but it's getting late. The pages are in the queue and my files are backed up and packed off to my Mom's house (the off-site home away from home for my tertiary backups.) I am not yet packed. I do have my medicine in case I nearly die (or just want to), like last year. Fun! I sort of have an evening gown for the masquerade, but I hope I find something better in San Diego... I always leave it until the last minute... Oh, heck, I'll live, and it'll be fun. I love San Diego!

We'll be at booth 1331, so please visit if you can! We have made "Gaslamp Fantasy Costume Appreciation Award" ribbons for those who care to come by the table in their Steampunk finery and allow us to appreciate them. (Ooh! Aah! We love the costumes, yes.) The ribbons are meeting us there, so I'm a little nervous, but they've shipped and I have a tracking number, so I'm reasonably sure it will be all right. (Hah. Yes, I'm worried.)

Phil and I will be introducing the contestants at the masquerade again this year, which is always a lot of fun. For us.

We've packed the new collection (no hardcovers that I know of, though) and the new pins, as well as a nice assortment of the rest of our work.

We're looking forward to seeing everybody!
